He loves when you’re self-defining,
Lining every conversation with interpretation:
Consultation for mediation of the patriarch.
He loves when your agency leads him to thoughts:
About our humanity
And its banality;
About our capacity
And our limited rhapsody.
But
No matter evolution,
you know they play the beauty game:
The-how-many-carbs-can-you-name
-in-our-meal-today.
By the way, I weigh more today than
I did yesterday.
Can’t we call it restitution?
What can he say,
He loves when you lay unaffected by
the politics
of our society
and its bounty.
Let’s not look for a quick fix
Or 5 Secret Tips
Or 10 Obvious Tricks
To Lose
Yourself
So you can look like the
women who have sold out.
Empty shells of humans
Who set the standards
for women
who actually work and sleep
and eat and weep
day and night
in and out
and sweat and pout
who eat to sin
and might eat their feelings
on occasion.
